The Story Behind My Message

Hey y’all!

As we quickly approach NatCon, I just wanted to take a minute to share the reasoning behind my message.

Two years ago, I had the opportunity to serve as a Youth Commissioner for my county.  There, I noticed that the other teens didn’t know the Lord’s truth at all, nor wanted anything to do with it, and yet they still were passionately involved in politics.  At the time, I assumed that all teens loved politics, and that Christian teens were just as passionate as my fellow commissioners.

But then when I served on some campaigns during the 2020 election cycle, I hit a wall of reality.  Most of the Christian teens I met didn’t possess any passion for what they were doing, and only helped because their parents did, or because they needed credit for school, or some extra money.

But before I could start feeling too stressed over this new realization, the Lord showed me Jeremiah 31:15-17, “A voice was heard in Ramah, Rachel weeping for her children...because they are no more…Thus says the Lord, refrain your voice from weeping...There is hope in your future, says the Lord, that your children shall come back to their own border.”  As soon as I had finished reading those verses, God and I had a conversation that went something like this.

God: “I have shown you this so you can start gathering teens who will help fight this battle.  I want you to run for Representative at NatCon so others can hear this challenge.”

Me: “You want me to do what?!  I’ve never done anything like this before; I’m not qualified.”

God: “I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness, and will hold your hand; I will keep you, and give you as a covenant to the people, to open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the prison.” (Isaiah 42:6)

Me: “Ok, so You’re going to work through me.  But I don’t think I’m made for this kind of service.”

God: “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity…Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you…” (1 Timothy 4:12 and 14)

Me: At this point had no arguments left: “Alright, Lord, I’ll run.  But it’s going to be Your show.  You started this thing, and You’re going to have to keep it going and finish it.”

God: “He trains my hands for battle; he strengthens my arm to draw a bronze bow. You have given me Your shield of victory; Your help has made me great.” (2 Samuel 22:35-36)

So, here we are!  The Lord is using this campaign to challenge His Christian young people.  Although there are many young people falling away from Him, God has planned to use the teens who are following Him to bring the straying ones back into the fold.  He promised to be with His messengers; holding their hand, strengthening them, and equipping them.  And He will give them the victory.

Are you willing to accept His call and be the one who makes a difference in the lives of others?  Will you be God’s messenger to the lost souls in this world?

I am God’s messenger.  Are you?
